Professional Moving Services in Fremont

With about 230,000 residents, Fremont is one of the largest cities in Alameda County, and its moves range from apartments near BART to houses in the foothills on the eastern edge of the city.

Fremont Movers for Apartments, Townhomes and Foothill Houses

Fremont was formed in 1956 when five towns, Centerville, Irvington, Mission San Jose, Niles and Warm Springs, joined into one city, and those names still describe where you live. The city now counts roughly 230,000 people, and at the last count that broke housing down, a little over 60 percent of occupied homes were owned and the rest rented. That mix means a Fremont move can be an apartment or townhome just as easily as a larger single-family house, and we plan the crew and truck for whichever you have.

Our Fremont Crews and Trucks

ShipShape does not send day laborers or subcontracted helpers; the movers at your Fremont address are on our own payroll and were background checked before their first job. Our California household goods permit is MTR 0192323 and our USDOT number is 3549568. Each 26-foot box truck has a ramp and carries pads, stretch film, dollies, hand trucks, straps, floor covering, door-jamb guards, wardrobe boxes and tools for taking furniture apart. The quote you receive names the crew size, from two or three movers for a typical apartment up to four or more for a large house.

Centerville, Irvington, Niles, Mission San Jose and Warm Springs

Because each district started as its own town, streets and building ages can vary from one part of the city to another. Some older blocks have narrow streets and little curb space, while many newer subdivisions have driveways and garages a truck can pull up to. Tell us the district and the type of home when you request a quote, and send photos of the street if parking looks tight.

Homes Below Mission Peak

The hill area on Fremont's eastern edge rises toward Mission Peak, with nearby summits around 2,500 feet. Houses on those slopes can have steep driveways and stairs between the street and the front door. We look at the access during your in-person or video estimate and add movers when a longer or steeper carry calls for it.

Near Fremont and Warm Springs BART

Fremont has two BART stations: Fremont station in the central district near Lake Elizabeth and Central Park, and Warm Springs/South Fremont station, which opened in 2017. Apartment and condo communities near either station often have gated garages, assigned loading areas and management offices that book move times. We confirm those details with the property manager before your date so the truck is not turned away at the gate.

Freeways and Timing

Interstate 880 and Interstate 680 both run through Fremont and connect in Warm Springs by way of Mission Boulevard, and State Route 84 carries traffic onto the Dumbarton Bridge. Commute traffic on these routes can change how long a move takes, so we usually suggest early starts. For hourly local moves, California rules require the drive time between your pickup and delivery addresses to be billed double, while the truck's trip from our yard to you and back is not charged.

Coming From Our Berkeley Office

ShipShape is based at 2001 Addison Street in Berkeley, and our trucks reach Fremont on Interstate 880 south through Oakland and Hayward. Moves between Fremont and other East Bay cities such as Hayward and Oakland, or south to San Jose and Sunnyvale, are all local moves billed by the hour. For moves to other parts of California, see our long-distance service.
