Garage staged for a move with boxes, a wrapped television and a bicycle

What travels

What We Move and What We Can't

Almost everything in a home travels with us. A short list cannot, either because the law says so or because it is not safe on a truck. Here is the practical line, plus how we handle the awkward and valuable items.

We move

  • Furniture of every size, including beds, tables, shelving and case goods.
  • Appliances, provided they are prepared for travel.
  • Boxes, bags, lamps, mirrors and framed art.
  • Office equipment, desks, filing cabinets and chairs.
  • Outdoor furniture and clean garden tools.

We move homes, apartments and offices across the Bay Area and long distance. See the service list for how each job type is handled.

We can't move

These are the industry standard non-allowables, and they are about safety and law rather than convenience:

  • Hazardous materials: propane tanks, gasoline, paint, solvents, aerosols, ammunition and fireworks.
  • Perishable food, open liquids and anything that can leak, spoil or freeze in transit.
  • Plants and garden soil, which rarely survive a closed truck and can carry pests across state lines.
  • Firearms, controlled substances and anything else you cannot legally hand to a carrier.
  • Pets and people: only belongings travel with us.

If you are unsure whether a specific item is allowed on a long distance move, ask before pack day and we will confirm it.

Special handling

Pianos

Handled with pads, straps and a piano board by crew members who have moved them before, and quoted separately because of the weight and the stairs.

Safes and gym equipment

Weight decides the method. We tell you before the move whether the item needs special equipment or cannot be moved safely at all.

Artwork and antiques

Wrapped, crated where needed, and carried rather than stacked. Tell us about value and fragility when you book.

How we protect your home

  • Floor runners and door frame protection go down before the first item leaves the room.
  • Blankets and stretch wrap on furniture, and shrink wrap on upholstery that could snag.
  • Boxes stacked no higher than the crew can handle safely, with heavier items low.
  • The truck loaded with weight over the axles, and nothing resting on soft furnishings.

Questions about a specific item

Send us a photo and the dimensions and we will give you a straight answer, including whether it changes the price. The FAQ page covers the most common ones, and moving rates shows how time and truck fees work.
